Climate Action North: a new role with rewilding funding
Climate Action North is delighted to announce the appointment of Sheila Carr as the newest member of its team, taking on the role of part-time Administrative Manager.
The role has been kick-started and supported by funding from the Rewilding Britain Innovation Fund.
Sheila plays an important part in supporting the social enterprise’s operations, including the coordination of events for its North East Rewilding Network and administrative tasks such as invoicing and recording of accounts.
She also oversees the management of CPD Certificates for the Climate Action North Training Academy, including the Rewilding Nature & Us training programme.
After facing a health challenge in 2017 and receiving the ‘all clear’ in December 2022, Sheila decided it was time for a career change that aligned with her values.
She was drawn to Climate Action North’s mission and the chance to work alongside a team dedicated to rewilding and providing practical ways for everyone to take action to address the climate crisis and biodiversity loss.
Sharon Lashley, CEO at Climate Action North and Sheila’s sister, said: “I am delighted to welcome Sheila into the rewilding fold. Her journey is a testament to the power of perseverance and resilience and her input, enthusiasm and experience will significantly support us in our everyday operations.
Sheila's career spans an impressive 46 years in the civil service, where she started as a Clerical Assistant before progressing to become an Administrative Officer. She has served across five different offices from 1977 to 2023.
Sheila said: “After 46 years in an office, if anyone needs 'rewilding,' it's me. When the opportunity came to work at Climate Action North alongside such a wonderful bunch of people, I grasped it with both hands, and I absolutely love it. I have never looked back!"
The time for talking is over, today we need to act.
