Pollinator Parks®

Nature is our best ally and nature-based solutions are a fundamental part of action for climate and biodiversity.

Our community rewilding initiative, Pollinator Parks®, shows how we can practically support and care for our wildlife and repair broken ecosystems.

By introducing native wildflower mini meadows, we transform outdoor areas on retail and business parks into ecological oases.

Wildflower mini meadows act as habitats for pollinator insects, such as bees, moths, and butterflies, whose functions are estimated to be worth £690 million each year to the UK’s economy alone.

As we work with business and retail parks across the North of England and wider regions, we want to see a joined-up approach to habitat creation and pollinator friendly areas. Building on the 30/30 target of organisations such as Rewilding Britain and The Wildlife Trust, we’d like to see 30 percent of business parks rewilded by 2030.

This will support pollinators and other wildlife as well as providing tangible climate and nature-based solutions.

Pollinator Parks® include the Darlington Denes, Dalton Park Outlet Shopping Centre, Sunderland Enterprise Park, and The BIC in Sunderland.
