Rewilding together to celebrate World Rewilding Day
March 20th is World Rewilding Day and this year’s theme, Rewilding Together, celebrates the growing movement for nature’s recovery.
As rewilding spreads, we have a massive opportunity to do even more – together. Rewilding Together reminds us that by embracing new partners, we can solve economic, social, and environmental challenges. Whether you call yourself a rewilder or not, if you're helping nature recover, you're part of this movement.
We’ve championed rewilding since 2018, when we hosted the first large-scale conference with naturalist Chris Packham. Since then, interest in rewilding has skyrocketed. We work with businesses, schools, and communities to make rewilding accessible for everyone, and ensure no one is left behind. All funds raised go directly into our climate and nature recovery projects.
Here’s a snapshot of what we’re doing:
Rewilding is good for business. Our goal is to rewild 30% of business parks by 2030. Through Pollinator Parks®, we help businesses transform their outdoor spaces into ecological havens. We’re already seeing success with partners like The BIC in Sunderland, Dalton Park, Sunderland Enterprise Park, and Darlington Denes. Northumbria Healthcare is the latest to partner with us to advance its green initiatives and we’ll announce full details soon.
Inspiring action in schools. Global Wilders® mobilises schools to take action for nature. From sowing wildflower seeds to beach cleans, we empower students to take part in rewilding, giving them hands-on experience with ecology and conservation. Local businesses sponsor schools to run these programmes, with students earning badges for their efforts.
The North East Rewilding Network. We can’t achieve nature recovery alone. That’s why we launched the North East Rewilding Network, supported by Rewilding Britain. This network connects people to expand rewilding efforts, whether it’s in schoolyards, community gardens, or even window boxes. It’s a growing, collaborative network making rewilding accessible to all.
Rewilding, Nature, and Us training. As part of the CPD-accredited Climate Action North Training Academy, this course helps participants rethink how to support nature in their area. To date, 58 people have participated. The programme includes guided sessions, discussions, and videos to deepen understanding of rewilding principles and practices.
World Rewilding Day is a call to action. As members of the Global Rewilding Alliance we will be launching our week of celebrations, sharing stories about Rewilding Together in the North of England during the week of the event. These stories showcase how far we've come and the power of collective action.

The time for talking is over, today we need to act.
